KMPE or Kyabram Motorcycles & Power Equipment began life in 1959 as a bicycle shop, in a small building off Albion St. The originator was Howard Allen, whose vision and hard work saw the business flourish, and grow into a very successful Honda Motorcycle and Honda Power Equipment dealership, and a Small Engine business.
Mark and Sandra Dunwoodie relocated from Warragul to purchase the business in 1996. They raised their two daughters Caitlin and Sarah in Kyabram.
Over time, KMPE has experienced many changes and challenges. From the most prolific drought on Victoria’s history, to the disconnection of water from farm title, undermining water security which once made Kyabram and the irrigation districts such a valuable asset for Victoria’s food security; to a substantial shift in the number of farming families. Through all of this Kyabram and surrounds have continued to survive, and be a productive region providing quality produce, employment, and great way of life for its people.
We at KMPE firmly believe in the value and integrity of our farming community, and worth to our economic future and food security.
In 2011 KMPE moved into larger agricultural machinery with AGCO appointing KMPE as Valtra Dealers for our district. This has allowed us expansion and movement in a new and exciting direction. Which has resulted in new workshop extensions at Albion St in 2015. The expansion has paved the way for more work done to our workshop in 2018/2019, including the installation of two hoists, that now give us the capability to service motor vehicles. At this stage we are still improving our workshop space as we expand, but are happy to service all makes and modles of vehilces until we are fully functional.
Kmpe has nine employees selling and servicing premium, time tested products. Senior mechanic and workshop mainstay, Peter Lawson, a local icon, and part of the team since 1969, is a living example of the KMPE commitment to service.
Our intention is to continue to provide quality service to our area, and strive to satisfy the needs and demands of our district for another fifty five years and beyond.
